Laser hair removal is the best and most effective way to permanently reduce unwanted body hair. If you are tired of waxing or shaving, ingrown hairs or razor bumps, or simply don’t want to think about your body hair ever again, this procedure is for you. During laser treatment, an intense beam of light permanently disables hair follicles at the root. Our top-of-the-line Elite Plus Laser by Cynosure allows for very quick and effective hair removal, due to its dual wavelength: 755nm Alexandrite Laser and 1064 ND: YAG, which can be switched with the push of a button, allowing us to safely treat all skin types. Multiple treatments are required, as only a certain percentage of hair is in an active, growing stage at any given time. You can trust in our highly experienced laser technicians, who have been performing laser hair removal since 2012. With their expertise, and our outstanding laser technology, Upper West Spa offers the best laser hair removal on the Upper West Side.
*First-time patients are required to schedule a complimentary initial consultation to determine an optimal treatment plan.*
To remove all unwanted hair, it typically takes about 6+ sessions with 4 to 6 weeks in between treatments. The exact number of sessions varies depending on your individual hair growth pattern, skin type and desired treatment area.
We recommend laser hair removal every 4 to 6 weeks to target different stages in the hair growth cycle. Because laser treatments remove hair in the active growth stage, laser technicians must allow enough time to pass between hair growth cycles. Without at least 4 weeks between sessions, the laser cannot effectively remove all actively growing hair.
It is recommended that clients should start Laser Hair Removal after they have reached puberty. For females, they have to have a fully established period. For males, we prefer to start when they have entered puberty and have fully developed hormone levels.
You should shave 1-2 days before your laser hair removal appointment. We prefer that you avoid shaving on the day of treatment as razor irritation can sensitize your skin.
Pigment in the hair is a target that leads laser energy to your hair follicle to permanently disable it. Therefore only darker hair can be successfully treated with this technology. It will not work on blond or gray hair types.
